The Strokes Tickets

Imagine it, 1990s Manhattan. Julian Casablancas (lead vocals), Nick Valensi (guitar), and Fabrizio Moretti (drums and percussion) begin playing together while attending high school. Years later Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitar), Nikolai Fraiture (bass guitar) enter the picture and The Strokes are born. They perform over 100 shows all over New York City at half empty bars, honing their signature sound, waiting for their break. In 2001 they laid down their first single, Last Nite, which is eventually released as a free online digital download by NME, a week prior to the release of their first EP Modern Age, sparking a bidding war among the major record labels. Strokes tickets for the band's UK tour sold out based on the popularity of the EP and they returned to the US as minor celebrities in the record industry.

The Strokes entered the studio for their second album, Is This It, with a record deal from RCA. After struggles between their producer and the label over the band’s low-fi production values, the album was released in the US in October 2001 and hailed as an instant rock classic with four stars from Rolling Stone and album of the year by Entertainment Weekly and TIME. Due to the success of the album, the band’s worldwide tour featured dates in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Europe where Strokes tickets sold out once again, and in North America where they opened for The Rolling Stones. In 2009 NME chose Is This It as album of the decade.

The Strokes second album, Room on Fire, was released in 2003 and the band received additional media coverage from the relationship between Moretti and actress Drew Barrymore. Hit singles from the album include 12:51, Reptilia, Under Control and I Can’t Win. The band’s third album, First Impressions of Earth, was released in 2006, and the first single, Juicebox, placed high in the charts in the US and UK.
