The B-52s Concert Tickets

Spawned after downing a Flaming Volcano drink at a Chinese restaurant, the B-52s are the little Indie band that could. Purportedly named from a whisper in a dream, the B-52s first single Rock Lobster sold a whopping 2,000 copies, pre-Internet, and landed the band gigs at CBGB’s, Max’s Kansas City and on Saturday Night Live. Rumor has it that Rock Lobster inspired John Lennon’s comeback.

Formed in Indie capital Athens, Georgia, prior to contemporaries R.E.M., the B-52s took the alternative route to the mainstream, featuring heavily on MTV’s 120 Minutes before finally blowing up on the cover of Rolling Stone in 1990. Fans packed in B-52s tour dates during that time.

Since then, the B-52s have gone on to win MTV Video Music Awards, appeared in the live action film The Flintstones as the BC-52s (clever), recorded a parody of Love Shack for The Simpsons, had their music featured in Target ads, toured with Cyndi Lauper, performed with Sugarland and are now clearly part of the fabric of the pop culture landscape, still touring and selling loads of B-52s tickets.
