Tampa Bay Lightning Schedule

Lightning Fast Facts
  • Established: 1992
  • Stanley Cup Championships: 2004
  • Captain: Steven Stamkos
  • Head Coach: Jon Cooper
  • Owner: Jeffrey Vinik
  • Fun Fact: Goalie Manon Rhéaume is the only woman ever to play in an NHL exhibition game
  • Home Arena: St. Pete Times Forum

Founded in 1992, the Tampa Bay Lightning are one of the NHL's youngest franchises. Like many expansion teams, the Tampa Bay struggled in its early history, qualifying for the playoffs just once in the franchise's first 10 seasons. The Lightning turned a corner in 2003, making the playoffs -- but losing in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. The Lightning built on their success in 2003, winning the Stanley Cup in 2004, entrenching themselves as one of the NHL's new powers.

Since winning the Stanley Cup, the Lightning have qualified for the playoffs in four of the subsequent nine seasons, advancing as far as the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011. Now in 2014 and led by captain Steven Stamkos, the Lightning are ready to march toward another Stanley Cup title!
