If in addition to the eclectic tastes described above you also enjoy soulful vocals with a stirring Indian orchestra sound to tie it all together, then Mick Jagger's latest creation is going to blow you away! News this week of a possible Super Heavy concert tour featuring some of music's most respected luminaries sent Rolling Stones fans into a frenzy. The whole thing just came out of the blue; Super Heavy were formed from a telephone conversation between Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart in which Stewart expressed his desire to create a new kind of sound that blended several distinct rock genres. Jagger was intrigued and the two began to reach out to some of the world's most accomplished and prolific musicians. Damian Marley, whose improvised lyrics gave the band their name, provides some stunning rhythms, while Indian virtuouso A.R. Rahman brings his awesome style to the table. Rahman, famed for his scintillating performances at high profile events like the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize concert, is the fusion king. His sound encompasses all continents, but especially his own. Rahman brings the dulcimer sound of deceased Stone Brian Jones back into Mick's life for perhaps the first time in decades.

Added to this, Dave Stewart, former band and bed partner of Annie Lennox in the Tourists and Eurythmics, will no doubt bring innovation and a whole new dimension to the Super Heavy Sound. British soul singer Joss Stone is another who we expect great things from in Super Heavy. Her ability to coast from raunchy to pure soul is already legend, and we can only guess at what interactions will happen between her, Jagger, Marley and the rest. The second those Super Heavy tickets go on sale we will display them right here, along with the tour dates. It's been two years since Super Heavy was conceived, making it one of rock 'n' roll's best-kept secrets. Dave Stewart has a home in Jamaica, and it was there that the telephone conversation took place where Stewart told Jagger of his desire to create a fusion band. No fusion sound is properly complete without some strong Afro-Carribean beats, and the son of reggae great Bob Marley is among the genre's top performers. Expect to hear some very familiar rhythm sections when these guys strike up their unique sound!
