Stick Fly Information

About the Show:

A modern comedy of manners, Stick Fly is both funny and thought-provoking. Though it is about an African-American family, its universal themes relate to everyone. Its complexity and poignancy touched recording artist Alicia Keys so much that she was motivated to produce the show and bring it to Broadway. She describes the show as "a rare piece of art that gets to you, that takes you to a different place, and opens your heart to a new horizon." Order your Stick Fly tickets right away and let this play move you too!

Plot Synopsis:

At the lavish Martha's Vineyard summer home of the wealthy, African-American LeVay family, a bonding weekend is the recipe for a series of lively encounters. The adult sons both attend; Kent is an aspiring writer while Flip is a successful plastic surgeon and the family's golden boy. Tensions rise when each son brings his lady to the retreat and the family discovers that one is black and the other is white, and one feels comfortable with the family's opulent lifestyle while the other is not accustomed to the ways of the upper class. Over food, drink, and games, the family deals with issues of class, race, and the complexities of identity.

Run Time:

2 hours and 15 minutes with one intermission
