About Soundgarden

Remember the days when a hot summer breeze flowed through those grungy tresses to the tune of Black Hole Sun in the 90's? Well those days can be revived when Soundgarden tickets go on sale and the band goes back on the road with some new material very soon.

Having preceded alternative music greats like Jane's Addiction, Nirvana and Pearl Jam, Soundgarden added a hard edge to an era dominated by glam rock. Like most successful grunge bands, Soundgarden formed in Seattle back in 1984 first as a cover band named The Shemps. After a few lineup changes and a dramatic switch in sound, the band, originally billed as a cross between The Stooges, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and MC5, Soundgarden saw a huge rise in success during the Soundgarden tour featuring Guns N Roses and their A&M records release Louder Than Love in 1989.

It was in 1992, however, that Soundgarden tickets would be considered a major deal with the release of a more metal sounding Badmotorfinger featuring the singles Outshined and Rusty Cage reaching the top 100 selling albums for that year. Soundgarden tickets became increasingly popular when the band headlined Soundgarden tours with the likes of Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam and Ministry, earning a spot on the Lollapalooza Tour that year. 1994's release of Superunkown would be Soundgarden's most successful album to date with hits Spoonman, The Day I Tried to Live, Black Hole Sun, My Wave and Fell on Black Days garnering enough attention for Soundgarden tickets to go on sale for a full headlining Soundgarden tour.

After a long string of Soundgarden concerts, the band hit the studio for another recording session which would result in the 1996 release Down on the Upside and the band's subsequent breakup in 1997. Tensions mounted when lead singer Chris Cornell decided to move away from their grunge and metal roots and the album was considered softer than its predecessors. After Soundgarden tickets sold out for many dates on their following Soundgarden tour, the band called it quits citing creative differences as a cause for the breakup.

Athough former Soundgarden front man and ex-Audioslave singer Chris Cornell stated that a reunion was "probably not going to happen" in a 2005 interview, rumors circulated about a Soundgarden reunion in 2009 with a possibility of a Soundgarden tour as well. Cornell recently stated that Soundgarden was in the talks of releasing a box set, then on New Year's morning 2010 Chris Cornell announced that "The 12 year break is over and school is back in session. Sign up now. Knights of the Soundtable ride again!” That's right, all original members of Soundgarden finally reunited for a 2011 tour - could a new album be in the works...?
