About the Theatre:

The Shubert Theatre, designed by Henry B. Herts, was built by Lee and J.J. Shubert in memoriam of their brother, Sam. It is adjacent to the Booth Theatre, built at the same time but featuring a very different interior, and shares with it a Renaissance facade. The theatres are also connected by the famous "Shubert Alley," a 300-foot walkway (between Broadway and Eighth Avenue and connecting West 45th and 46th Streets) that is considered the heart of Broadway. The Shubert Theatre opened in 1913 with a series of plays by Shakespeare and has since very rarely been dark. Its longest-running success to date is A Chorus Line, which ran for 6,137 performances from 1975 to 1990. It has also been home to the wildly successful revival of Chicago and several Tony-winning Best Musicals, including Crazy for You, the comedy hit Spamalot, and 2009's Memphis.
