Get out and see some Seattle Seahawks football |
![]() The Seattle Seahawks are set for action and are ready to take on the tough NFC East in what promises to be a solid season of NFL football. This team has some very good players and they are not too far removed from Super Bowl XL. Head Coach Jim L. Mora has this team focused, so if the team can play together it could be a great year to have Seahawks tickets. Matt Hasselbeck has performed brilliantly in the past and will be looking to do the same once again. Julious Jones will be running all over the place, and tight end John Carlson is going to be a threat all NFL season long. Make sure you get your Seahawks tickets soon so that you can see The Hawks take on all comers. The complete 2009 Seahawks schedule
2009 Seahawks previewThe Seattle Seahawks had one of the worst seasons in recent memory in 2008, going 4-12 and finishing third in the NFC West. However injuries played a big part in the disappointing season, and there is plenty of reason for optimism for Seattle Seahawks ticket holders everywhere. 2008's record of 4-12 was the 'Hawks worst season since 2002, also the last time they were under .500. The Seahawks had a busy off-season, adding T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Colin Cole, Ken Lucas and Cory Redding in the hopes of getting back to their 2005 Super Bowl form when they went 13-3. New Head Coach Jim Mora is a very good defensive coach so look for the Seahawks to allow a lot less points than last year. Anyone that has had Seattle Seahawks tickets last year might recall Mora's tenure as assistant head coach/defensive back coach on the team. Before joining the Seahawks, Mora served as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons [tickets] where he took the team to the NFC Championship Game following a 5-11 season. This franchise is not far removed from the Super Bowl and with some key additions will be looking to get there again. Seahawks offense previewThe injury of Matt Hasselbeck was devastating to Seattle after an incredible 2007 campaign. All signs point to Hasselbeck being ready to go and Seahawks ticket holder can't wait to see him in action. If Hasselbeck is good to go he is going to have plenty of weapons to choose from. Deion Branch and Nate Burleson are capable receivers that are going to be tough for opponents to guard. Add to that the Seahawks prized off-season acquisition, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and there will be plenty off targets for Hasselbeck. T.J. Houshmandzadeh will definitely help the Seahawks put points on the scoreboard, as he averaged more than 1,000 yards per season each year with the Cincinnati Bengals [tickets]. And just in case, backup QB Seneca Wallace was good last year with an 87.0 passer rating with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions in the eight games he played in. The running game is comprised of a Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett combo could prove to be effective, especially with Mora's focus on defense. Jones had a few fumbles last year but otherwise has shown he can be effective. Nonetheless Seattle ticket holder will be holding their breath each time Jones gets the ball, at least for the first couple of games. Tight End John Carlson had the most receptions last year with 55 and figures to once again be a big part of the Seattle offense. Leonard Weaver has vacated the fullback spot and left Owen Schmitt and Justin Griffith to compete for the spot. Still not happy with their defense, Seattle selected center Max Unger (Oregon [tickets]) in the 2nd round of the draft. He has very good speed and strength, and could start contributing to this team almost immediately. Seahawks Defense previewLast year's defense was smaller than the NFL norm and subsequently got pushed around quite a bit, but the veterans brought in should help make the team much tougher. Their size was just one reason why Seattle's defense was one of the worst in the league, giving up an average of 24.6 points per game. The 'Hawks were also the worst team in the NFL at stopping the run and gave up a whopping 378 yards per game. But with Mora at the helm and a new-look defensive corps, this should all change in 2009. Mora is known to focus on defense and the Seahawks have to be better at stopping the run this year. The defense was one area the Seahawks did not wait to address in the NFL Draft. Line backer and #4 draft pick Aaron Curry (Wake Forest) was one of the premier defenders in this year's NFL crop and Seattle hopes he can have an immediate impact. Curry, last year's Butkus Award Winner, is expected to become one of the premier linebackers in the NFL very quickly. Last year it seemed the league adapted to Cornerback Marcus Trufant, as his interceptions went from 7 in 2007 to just 1. With the addition of some good defensive players Trufant will likely get more chances to cause turnovers. LeRoy Hill, Lofa Tatupu and Aaron Curry give promising hopes for the heart of the Seahawks defense. Lofa Tatupu will likely be the middle linebacker and should be a major contributor to this revamped defense. Leroy Hill is back and will be in good shape to contribute once again. End Patrick Kerney should be able to contribute much more after last year's injury plagued season, and cornerback Ken Lucas is back with the Seahawks after four years with the Carolina Panthers. The off-season acquisitions of Cory Redding (Lions) and Colin Cole (Packers) will also be counted on to improve on last year's dismal defense. Upcoming Seahawks games: |
