San Francisco 49ers Schedule |
The San Francisco 49ers are one of the most storied teams in football history, with 49ers playoffs tickets being among the most popular NFL tickets sold anywhere. Their legendary lineups in the 1980s and 1990s dominated the NFL, winning five Super Bowl titles. Even on those star-studded teams, quarterback Joe Montana and wide receiver Jerry Rice stood out as two of the best players of all time. After two decades of unparalleled success, the 49ers began to struggle to match previous highs due to aging personnel and growing parity within the league. San Francisco has begun the process of hauling itself back into contention with a hungry young squad of players. Looking to build on last season's difficult 2-14 record, the 49ers drafted highly-rated quarterback Alex Smith, who may even get to start games in his rookie season. They've also invested in some offensive linemen to protect him, and all signs point to San Francisco attempting to build their team around their youthful quarterback. Fans of the 49ers see the potential. They continue to bring warm jackets and a burning passion for their team to Monster Park Stadium. The 'Niners are always a tough ticket, but TicketLiquidator is there to get you into game so you can witness what may well be the seeds of a new dynasty. The 2006 San Francisco 49ers 4-12 record from 2005 was something they wanted to obliterate and forget about. The 2006 season offered a chance to improve, and they grasped the opportunity with both hands. This season also marked the 60th Anniversary of the 49ers franchise, and a bid for a trophy would complement the milestone very nicely, San Francisco 49ers tickets were a high demand item running into the 2006 season. Almost immediately following the 2005 season, the 49ers' offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy left for the Green Bay Packers. In mid-January, 2006, the 49ers brought Norv Turner to Monster Park to replace McCarthy. Turner came to the 49ers following two mediocre years coaching the 49ers' rivals, the Oakland Raiders. The 49ers acquired two free agents in the offseason. Antonio Bryant, a wide receiver from the Cleveland Browns, and Larry Allen, a veteran left guard from the Dallas Cowboys. The 49ers also traded Kevan Barlow to the New York Jets for what is probably a 2007 4th round draft pick. The 49ers won a coin toss with the Oakland Raiders for the 6th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft at the scouting combine in Indianapolis. They used their first pick on tight end Vernon Davis from Maryland. The next pick was spent on defensive end Manny Lawson from North Carolina State. Among other picks were running back Michael Robinson from Penn State, Tennessee defensive end Parys Haralson, Wisconsin wide receiver Brandon Williams, Central Missouri State wide receiver Delanie Walker, North Carolina State safety Marcus Hudson, Louisiana State defensive end Melvin Oliver, and safety Vickiel Vaughn from Arkansas. Week one of the new season saw the 49ers take a trip to Arizona Cardinals, where they were beaten 34 to 27, in a game marred by what many considered to be bad officiating. The 49ers beat the Saint Louis Rams in week two by 20 to 14, but went on to lose again in weeks three and four, against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chiefs, respectively. The next week, the 49ers defeated their crossbay rivals the Oakland Raiders, by an impressive 34-20 scoreline, and then were beaten two weeks running by the San Diego Chargers and the Chicago Bears. A three game winning streak between weeks nine and eleven proved to be the 49ers best run of their anniversary season, but it was cut short by a 20-17 defeat at Saint Louis Rams in week 12. They beat the Denver Broncos 26-23 in their final game of the season at the Mile High, but it was never enough to earn the 49ers more than a third place spot in the NFC West Division, and San Francisco 49ers tickets had to wait another year. Head Coach Mike Nolan will now have to motivate his troops to get it together for the 2007 season, and try to make this a special year for the men at Monster Park. San Francisco 49ers tickets will be a quested-after commodity in the Bay area as the season gets underway, and we can be assured that their legions of fans will be following their progress as they work through the NFL schedule. Let's hope that they show a bit more spirit next time, and give us the prime performance we know they're capable of. |
