San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy led the Chargers to the playoffs in his first season -- and led San Diego to the Divisional round of the playoffs, before losing to the Denver Broncos. Now in his second season, McCoy is aiming to lead the Chargers back to the playoffs -- and all the way to the Super Bowl. Be there this season to root on Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers! Check out the Chargers' 2014 schedule, and buy your tickets today!

Founded as the Los Angeles Chargers in 1960 in the American Football League, the Chargers have one of the richest histories of any franchise in the National Football League. The Chargers played just one season in Los Angeles, before moving to San Diego in 1961. San Diego joined the NFL in 1970, when the AFL and NFL merged.

The Chargers captured their only championship in franchise history in 1963 -- prior to the AFL/NFL merger. San Diego appeared in the Super Bowl in 1994 -- when the Chargers fell to the San Francisco 49ers.

San Diego went through a tough stretch in the 90s and early aughts. The Chargers missed the playoffs nine straight seasons between 1996 and 2004, before emerging as one of the AFC's best teams between 2004 and 2009 -- thanks in large part to LaDainian Tomlinson. The Chargers failed to return to the Super Bowl, however, and only made it out of the Divisional round once, in 2007, when San Diego lost to the then-undefeated New England Patriots.

Now with McCoy as head coach, and Philip Rivers entering his prime, the Chargers are ready to make a run at Super Bowl glory once again. Don't miss out on your chance to be there at Qualcomm Stadium this year!
