On Jan 10th, 2012, Rebelution released their third studio album, Peace of Mind, a “triple album” with two additional versions of the entire record, an acoustic version and a dub version.Peace of Mind debuted at no. 13 on the Billboard top 200 charts, and was the top Independent and Reggae record, selling 16,000 copies its first week. The day after the album’s release, Rebelution kicked off their “Peace of Mind Tour” with a stop at New York City’s Best Buy Theater and a sold out show at Philly’s The Electric Factory and Hard Rock in Orlando, FL. The tour will stop in a total of 42 cities across the country including The Hollywood Palladium, Denver’s The Fillmore, The Fox Theatre in Oakland, and Congress Theatre in Chicago. The reggae band Rebelution formed in Santa Barbara, California in 2004 and includes Eric Rachmany, vocals/guitar; Matt Velasquez, vocals/guitar; Rory Carey, keyboard; Wesley Finley, drums; and Marley D. Williams, bass. Original member Matt Velasquez left the group after the release of their first album, Courage to Grow. From 2005-2005, Rebelution played local shows and independently released a self-titled EP as they grew in popularity. In 2007, Rebelution released their first full-length album Courage to Grow, which proved to be a breakthrough album for the band. The single “Safe and Sound” was played in heavy rotation on the radio and Courage to Grow peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. In 2009 Rebelution released their sophomore album titled Bright Side of Life which dominated the iTunes charts and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. The album was the first off Rebelution’s newly founded record label in association with Controlled Substance Sound Labs,"87 Music." In the summer of 2009 Rebelution played at the Rothbury music festival. In 2010, they performed at the 2010 Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa, California alongside The Expendables, Slightly Stoopid and Lauryn Hill. Rebelution also performed at All Good Music Festival, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and Wakarusa Music festivals in 2010. |
