Ray Davies Tour: Tickets to the Kinkdom!
Ray Davies' 2011 tour schedule is really starting to take shape now, as rumors of a Kinks reunion build fast. The current tour dates already announced include the opening night in Atlanta on November 1st and on up the east coast to Boston at the end of November. The Ray Davies west coast dates are still not announced. The Kinks reunion rumors have slowly gathered pace over the past few months, after Ray and Dave Davies met to discuss the possibility in early 2011. The Kinks' Davies brothers - the original warring siblings decades before Noel and Liam Gallagher came along - both have serious chops in the singer-songwriting department, and they can play guitar, too. Kinks tunes like "See My Friends", "Waterloo Sunset" and "Lola" changed the face of music in the 1960s, and their Mod/Garage anthems, "You Really Got Me" and "All Day and All of the Night" are still regarded as the first ever examples of the three-chord genre. Bands as diverse as The Fall and Wilco carry echoes of the Kinks sound, but for the real deal you have to buy Ray Davies tickets and see the master do his thing live on stage. A Ray Davies solo tour is nothing new; Davies has pulled off several such treks, including his memorable "Storyteller" tour in the late-90s, and he just seems to improve with age. The Kinks were one of the most innovative and talented bands in the 1960s and Ray Davies was the visionary behind it. Images of Victorian turrets, monumental bridges and train stations, coupled to the feelings and lives of insignificants, made for a heady sound that typified swinging London. Find those Ray Davies tour tickets now and relive the greatest songs of the greatest era in rock. Ray Davies won't be around forever, so drink deep and enjoy. |
