The band released their first demo when producer Gary Smith suggested the band push their material - they were signed to 4AD Records shortly after. Their first EP "Come On Pilgrim," with 8 tracks off their now famous "The Purple Tape" - their first demo tape, was released in 1987. The album wouldn't snag in the US but hoards of UK fans would be racing for Pixies tickets that year.
