Suns History:

The Phoenix Suns sprung up in 1968 and have given their fans decent basketball ever since. The dream team of Hall-of-Famer Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, and Dan Majerle led the team during the 1992-1993 season to the NBA finals against the Bulls. The Suns won the First Round, the Conference Semifinals and also won the Conference Finals, before losing the NBA Finals to the Chicago Bulls. Perhaps the most memorable moment for the team came in a triple-overtime thriller against the Boston Celtics during the 1976 post-season. The Suns, after winning the Conference Semifinals and Finals, faced the Celtics for the NBA Finals. In game five, the two teams were neck in neck for three overtimes. Though Boston eventually took the game, winning 128 to 126, (and the series as well) the game is measured to be one of the NBA's most historic. The team's long-standing rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers has spiced up the excitement surrounding this team, lighting up the postseason a number of times. The Lakers do usually dominate both the regular and post-season match-ups, however, since the addition of Steve Nash to the Suns, the team has dominated seven of 9 meeting with the Lakers. There is also a smaller rivalry between the Suns and the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks, but the Lakers rivalry remains the strongest.
