First played in 1976, the Independence Bowl has seen some great moments over the years. Taking place at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium, the Independence Bowl matches up a team from the MWC against a team from the ACC. The winner of the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl is awarded the Independence Bowl trophy as well as a $1,100,000 cash prize, not to mention a great story for anyone that bought football tickets! The game was been known as the AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl since 2009. Previously it has been known as the PetroSun Independence Bowl and before that the MainStay Investments Independence Bowl. The Independence Bowl is aligned with the MWC and the ACC, meaning that teams from that conference get first shot at participating in the game. The other bowl games associated with the ACC are: Orange Bowl, Sun Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl, Music City Bowl, Chick-fil-a Bowl, Military Bowl, Little Caesars Bowl and the Belk Bowl.
