Pearl Jam began their saga at the base of the Seattle grunge scene when the band Mother Love Bone was mourning the death of singer Andrew Wood from a drug overdose in 1990. After a memorial CD was recorded, guitarist Stone Gossard, bassist Jeff Ament, guitarist Mike McCready, vocalist Eddie Vedder and drummer David Krusen formed the first inception of Pearl Jam- Mookie Blaylock. The name was soon changed to Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam initially rode off the fame of Mother Love Bone and was signed to Epic Records in 1991. Their first album, Ten yielded some of the band's most well-known hits to date - "Jeremy," "Alive" and "Even Flow."
