Offspring Concert Tickets |
Joining the ranks of Green Day and Rancid, The Offspring developed in the midst of the pop-punk phenomenon of the 90's. This Huntington Beach, CA band has released eight studio albums, most of which reached the top 10 spot on US charts, and created well-known anthems for generation Y. The Offspring, formed by high school friends Dexter Holland and Greg K, originally went by the name "Manic Subsidal." The inspiration for the band originated from an incident where the two were refused entrance into a Social Distortion concert. The addition of Doug Thompson for vocals, guitarist Kevin Wasserman (the school janitor) and drummer Jim Benton completed the band. Soon after both Benton and Thompson left the band; James Lilja took over drums and Holland took over vocals. Releasing their first single on their very own record label, Black Label Records - "I'll Be Waiting/Blackball" would attract a slew of LA punks to Offspring concerts in the Huntington Beach Area. During their rise to fame, Lilja quit The Offspring and was replaced by 16 year old Ron Welty. Realizing the growing popularity of The Offspring tickets, Nemesis Records snatched them up and their first self-titled album was released in 1989. An Offspring tour soon followed but had to be cut short when Wasserman was stabbed during The Offspring's' Hollywood anti-nuclear benefit. Recognizing the Offspring's potential, the band was signed to Bad Religion's label Epitaph Records. Their second album, Ignition, sold over 1 million copies worldwide, a huge feat for a small band, and the following Offspring tour including acts, like No Doubt and Pennywise, would be equally as successful. In 1994 The Offspring would produce their breakthrough album Smash. Earning the title for most units sold by an independent label, Smash sold a staggering 16 million records at one time, the album has continued to sell since its 1994 release. Singles like "Self Esteem," and "Come Out and Play" would become radio hits, defining the style of the mid 90's. With a flood of income coming in from The Offspring tickets and albums sales, the band developed Nitro records which signed bands like The Vandals, Jughead's Revenge and Guttermouth. Delving away from the politically themed trend of most Epitaph bands, The Offspring left the label for Columbia records releasing their fourth album, Ixnay on the Hombre in 1996. The album didn't reach the heights of Smash despite sold out Offspring shows, as the album marked a decided change for the band presenting more soulful material than its predecessor. Undeterred the Offspring would go on the release their most successful album to date Americana. Fans with the Offspring tickets would go wild for singles like "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)," "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "Why Don't You Get a Job" performed live. In 1999 The Offspring was featured in the film Idle hands and performed at an Offspring concert at Woodstock 99. In 2000, the band released "Conspiracy of One" during the Napster era. The band wanted to release the album entirely online but after threats from their parent label Sony, the band released a single song on their web site and sold T-Shirts supporting the Napster cause. Over the next few years, the Offspring toured and composed two more records (Splinter and Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace). During that time, Ron Welty left the band to join Steady Ground and was replaced by Atom Willard. The Offspring tickets sold out to the Vans Warped Tour in 2005 and Willard played tracks on Angels and Airwaves. Currently the Offspring is gearing up for an Offspring tour this spring and you don't want to miss out. Said to give some of the most energetic performances ever, an Offspring show is the perfect way to kick off your summer!
