When he met now-legendary dancer/choreographer George Balanchine in 1933, he knew that he was the right person to help his dream become a reality. Some developmental years followed, during which Balanchine got the school running. In 1948, he invited Jerome Robbins, now a legend in choreography of many forms, including for Broadway shows like Fiddler on the Roof and West Side Story, to join as the Assistant Artistic Director. Together, the two founding choreographers set the foundations for New York City Ballet and began its tradition of excellence.

Today, New York City Ballet features some of the best dancers in the world and performs an extensive library of works, including favorites like Romeo + Juliet and The Nutcracker (George Balanchine's version, of course) as well as newer compositions.
