New Orleans Saints History:

Formed in 1967, the Saints were absolutely abysmal in their early years. Twelve consecutive losing seasons in their first twelve years of existence hardly bade well for the franchise. Fans of the Saints are credited with inventing the tradition of wearing brown paper bags over their heads to hide their shame of supporting such a lousy team Slowly, however, the team began to turn around. 1979 saw the team record an 8-8 record, and in 1987, New Orleans made their first playoff appearance under head coach Jim Mora, and Saints playoffs tickets were changing hands in serious numbers. The Saints made three consecutive postseason appearances from 1990 to 1992, but lost in the first round each time.

Despite closing out the 20th century with a string of sub-par seasons, the Saints are finally building a team as flamboyant as their home city. Quarterback Drew Brees isn't afraid to throw the ball, amassing more than 3,000 yards passing four years in a row. New Orleans has also added to their defense in the off-season, and those involved in the club are confident that they can overcome inconsistency to earn a spot in the playoffs.

New Orleans was hit by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, causing terrible destruction in the area. The Saints were forced to vacate the Superdome and play in San Antonio and LSU's Tiger Stadium. However, whether they play in the Alamodome, Tiger Stadium, or the Superdome, the Saints are hugely popular and football tickets are scarce. TicketLiquidator is there to help with great tickets at great prices. To get your New Orleans Saints tickets, click below.

On January 17 2006, the Saints hired Sean Payton, former assistant head coach at the Dallas Cowboys, as their new head coach. In March, during free-agency, the Saints acquired former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees on a six-year deal. In the 2006 NFL Draft, the Saints' first pick went on the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner from University of South Carolina, Reggie Bush. Other picks went on Oregon State wide receiver Mike Hass, Northwestern offensive tackle Zach Strief, Bloomsburg offensive tackle Jahri Evans, Purdue's Rob Ninkovich, Pittsburgh center back Josh "Bernard" Lay, Alabama safety Roman Harper, and Hofstra wide receiver Marques Colston. The Saints are now among the best in the league and tickets are going to be popular for a while.
