The National Invitation Tournament NIT Tournament is full of some great college basketball teams eager to prove they belong with the best teams in college basketball. NIT tickets always sell well, especially when a well-known program is involved. Each year we see two NIT Tournaments, the pre-season and the post-season. The pre-season NIT Tournament is formally known as the Dicks Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off, and has been played each year since it was founded in 1985. Formally known as the Master Card NIT, the event takes place in March and April. This post-season NIT basketball tournament has been played since 1938.
