The world was blessed by the rock Gods when Motley Crue Formed in 1981, Nikki Sixx left the glam metal band London to start making sweet music with drummer Tommy Lee and bassist Greg Leon who left shortly after. Your favorite metal band went under the initial name "Christmas" when Mick Mars and Vince Neil joined the crew. They experienced premature luck when their debut "Too Fast for Love" was picked up by Elektra Records..

After the Motley Crue concert at the US Festival, the band became widely known in the US for what glam bands are lauded for - sex, drugs and rock n' roll. With high-heeled boots, exaggerated makeup and tight clothing, fans emulated their style- especially at Motley Crue concerts. The 80's saw success with releases of "Shout at the Devil" in 1983, "Theatre of Pain" in 1985, "Girls Girls Girls" in 1987 and "Dr. Feelgood" in 1989. Motley Crue concerts were characterized by over-the-top sets and lighting, pyrotechnics, flashy outfits and dancing girls. For the magnitude of album sales Motley Crue was experiencing, they were also enduring an equal volume of hardships. While Motley Crue ticket sales were going through the roof, so were the risky activities Motley Crue was engaging in- epitomizing the rock n' roll lifestyle.

After the death of associate drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley in a car accident involving Neil, Neil was removed from the band and replaced with John Corabi. Neil released a couple of solo albums that failed in sales and Motley Crue, releasing two charting tracks in a two year period, decided that Motley Crue didn't exist without Neil. It was then that Motley Crue welcomed Neil back and tried to latch onto the alternative rock trend, releasing "Generation Swine," an album with uncharacteristic grunge and industrial overtones- the change would prove unsuccessful.

Despite this, Motley Crue concerts were still popular during the Motley Crue tour promoting their "Greatest hits" and "Live Entertainment or Death" albums in 1998 and 1999. Lee, then married to actress Pamela Anderson, left the band after a short stint in jail- he then formed the rap-core band Methods of Mayhem. Lee was replaced with Ozzy drummer Randy Castillo and Motley Crue returned to its former hard rock M.O. for "Tattoo," released in 2000. After the tragic death of Castillo in 2002, Motley Crue concerts went on hold and the band took leave from the music world.

In 2005, Motley Crue tickets went on sale again for their reunion tour to promote another greatest hits compilation "Red, White and Crue." But it wasn't until the 2008 release of "Saints of Los Angeles" that the true nature, that colorful glam metal, that hard, gritty rock, of Motley Crue resurfaced.
