Monty Python's Spamalot Events

Sorry, Monty Pythons Spamalot tickets aren't available at this time.

About the show:

Monty Python's Spamalot is an irreverent musical comedy based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It has many similarities to the film, including its main storyline, a spoof of Arthurian legend. But it also features new material, including parodies of Broadway musicals and other original songs. The book and lyrics were written by Monty Python co-founder Eric Idle, who also collaborated with composer John Du Prez on the music.

After a successful Chicago preview, Spamalot opened on Broadway on March 17, 2005. Thanks to enthusiastic pre-sales from Broadway and Monty Python fans, the first performances largely sold out, and the show ran for an impressive 1,574 performances, closing on January 11, 2009. Fans adored the performances of the show's original stars, including Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Clue) Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, The Birdcage), David Hyde Pierce (Frasier, Curtains), Christopher Sieber (Shrek the Musical, La Cage Aux Folles), and Sara Ramirez (Grey's Anatomy, The Capeman). Critics also praised the show and it won 3 of the whopping 14 Tony Awards for which it was nominated. Plot Synopsis:

A historian addresses the audience with a brief overview of the history of medieval England. Actors appear in a picturesque Finnish village and begin singing the "Fisch Schlapping Song" until the historian corrects them, saying he was talking about England, not Finland. They disappear and a dark, sullen village scene emerges with robed monks chanting in Latin and hitting themselves with Bibles. King Arthur, on a mission to recruit knights for his round table, arrives on foot with his faithful assistant, Patsy, who is banging together two coconut shells to imitate the sound of a horse galloping. They get no help when they encounter two guards who seem more concerned with debating whether two birds could carry a coconut than helping them.

Shortly thereafter, Arthur comes across Sir Robin, who is collecting those who have died from the Black Plague, and Lance, a savagely violent man. They both agree to become knights when Lance hears about the violence and Robin hears about the singing and dancing. Then, the group encounters Dennis Galahad and his mother, political rebels who question the legitimacy of his rule. To convince them, he gets the Lady of the Lake, who appointed him king by giving him the sword Excalibur, to turn him into a knight.

Together, Sir Robin, Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad, Sir Bedevere, and Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Show complete Arthur's Round Table. They arrive in Camelot (which resembles a modern-day Las Vegas resort casino) and receive an order from God to find the mysterious "Holy Grail," So they set off once again. When they are ridiculed by French soldiers, they send them a Trojan Rabbit, but unfortunately neglect to hide inside. The crafty French guards then send cancan dancers after them and begin hurling cows, so the knights flee, defeated.

King Arthur and his noble knights continue their search for the Holy Grail, but meet many challenges on the way, including the ridiculous Knights Who Say Ni, the overly confident Black Knight (who thinks nothing of losing the occasional appendage), the arduous task of putting on a Broadway musical (with not a savvy Jew in sight), the plight of an extremely effeminate young prince, and an evil rabbit. Order your Spamalot tickets to see all of the absurd events unfold to a gloriously silly conclusion.
