Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden met while attending Wesleyan University and found that they had similar tastes in music. The two would eventually started a psychedelic pop band. Before signing to Colombia Records, MGMT tickets went on sale for a wildly popular tour opening for Of Montreal. The two would go on to record their debut album Oracular Spectacular and receive the honor of the best album of 2008 title by NME who stated, "For all its musical philandering, unbridled excess and shrouds of irony, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a record with more musical depth and warmth all year than this one.". Rolling Stone Magazine put it on their top 20 list of best albums of the decade. Suffice to say - MGMT tickets sold out quickly for shows around the world opening for acts like Of Montreal, Asobi Sesku, The Courteneers, Radiohead, M.I.A., Paul McCartney and various festivals including Bonnaroo and Meredith Music Festival. MGMT, ever the chameleons, recently released their second studio album, Congratulatios which was recorded with producer Pete Kember. Opinions about the album are mixed, however most are positive. According to Culture Bully's Chris DeLine, "the album retains a continuous flow and offers a variety of different sounds within the larger umbrella of modern psychedelic rock. Tracks such as “Congratulations,” the epic “Siberian Breaks,” and even “Flash Delirium” enforce a feeling of freshness throughout the record that keeps it from feeling stagnant." Now you have the opportunity to form your own opinion! MGMT concerts are just as experimental as their albums, so don't expect the typical fair you'd see at a run-of-the-mill rock show. MGMT tickets are tickets to show filled with visual and auditory wonder - so buy those MGMT tickets before they're gone! |
