Enigmatic Mexican rock band-cum-political-ecological reactionaries Maná are back for more Mana tour dates! The Mana schedule takes the influential Latinos all across the country. The band, who have dedicated as much energy to political and environmental justice as they have to making music, plan to splash the rhythmic, driving sounds from "Amar es Combatir" and other classics over American audiences with abandon. "Amar es Combatir" entered the Billboard 200 at No. 4, another triumph for the Latino rockers who in 1997 with "¿Dónde Jugaràn Los Niños?" were the first ever Spanish-speaking band to enter the Billboard Top 200, and who have since made a habit of smashing down barriers to Latino music. The band's intriguing blend of Latin, Caribbean and American influences has generated a vast following in the U.S. and Mana tickets for their latest set of dates are sure to be in high demand.

The band first configured as Sombrero Verde (Green Hat), in 1980. Maná began by performing covers in English, and then began adding Spanish tunes to their catalogue. They released their first album, Sombrero Verde, in 1981. Their second album, A Ritmo de Rock came out 12 years later, and the band became Maná (which means "supernatural force" in Polynesia). Fher Olvera handled lead vocals, and brothers Juan Diego and Ulises Calleros played bass and lead guitar, respectively. Alex González, an American-born Cuban-Colombian played drums, and the unique broth of world music exploded onto the scene. Their first album under Polygram came out in 1986.

Maná's ability to encapsulate serious statements inside positive rhythms has earned them much respect from within the rock world, and several American bands have proclaimed Maná to be a chief influence. This is serious music, but it's a heck of a lot of fun, with every tune grabbing the listener and making him or her dance their heart out. If solid and mystifying rock spiced with a Latino beat is your thing, you need to head out and put your hand on one of these golden tickets. The rockers are going to be touring until at least mid-October, and they are the kind of band that never runs out of steam. Maná tickets are worth their weight in gold, and more than just the dedicated and the faithful want them, so you must move fast if you want to be transported out of your seat by these exotic shamen.
