The Latin Grammy’s was first announced in 2000, just 3 years after the creation of the Latin Academy of Recording, Arts & Sciences. The Academy was formed by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and founded by Michael Greene, Rudy Perez, and Mauricio Abaroa. The first annual Latin Grammy Awards was hosted by Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez, Andy Garcia, Jimmy Smits, and Antonio Banderas.
