About Keith Urban

Country superstar Keith Urban came a long way to get to Nashville. Born in New Zealand, Urban cut his teeth in the little known Australian country music scene which is known for its myriad influences ranging from bluegrass to folk. As a result of his apprenticeship in this eclectic background, Urban plays a variety of instruments from guitar to mandolin to drums.

In 1992 Urban moved to Nashville and worked as a session musician before getting his break. In true country fashion, Urban lived through hard times, suffered from drug addiction, went cold turkey, produced his first album in the US and went on to win big at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2001.

In literally no time Urban has achieved a glittering 7 chart-topping singles, as well as 12 Top 5's, but his award-winning habits don't stop there. Along with numerous accolades and acknowledgements from all corners of the music industry, Urban was the 2005 Country Music Association (CMA) Entertainer of the Year, while simultaneously voted the CMA and Academy of Country Music (ACM) Male Vocalist of the Year.
