Jimmy V Classic Basketball Tickets

The Jimmy V Men’s Basketball Classic will be held on December 6, 2011 at Madison Square Garden starting at 7:00pm and will feature four of the country’s top collegiate basketball teams. It's one of the biggest events in NCAA basketball and Jimmy V Classic tickets are some of the hottest sellers of the year. Missouri will play against Villanova in the first game, followed by Washington and Marquette. The Head Coach of the Missouri Tigers is Frank Haith and they are led by the senior class, who has won 77 games in their first three seasons with the team. Marcus Denmon is one member of this senior class to watch out for after he was named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team and was put on the Wooden Award watch list. Villanova is coached by Jay Wright and led by Maalik Wayns, the top returning scorer and a member of the Wooden Award Preseason List. Lorenzo Romar is the Head Coach of the Washington Huskies, who are led by Junior Abdul Gaddy and Sophomore Terrence Ross. For Buzz William’s Marquette Golden Eagles, they look to Senior Darius Johnson-Odom and Senior Jae Crowder to lead the team.

The Jimmy V Classic college basketball event is named after James Thomas Anthony Valvano, who was a college basketball coach for 19 years. He then went on to become a broadcaster for ABC Sports and ESPN. Valvano also created JTV Enterprises and delivered many motivational speeches all over the country. The most famous of these was his ESPY speech on March 3, 1993, where he announced his creation for the Jimmy V Foundation. The foundation was created to find a cure for cancer and its motto is “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.” The Jimmy V Men’s Basketball Classic is always held at the end of Jimmy V Week, which features special events to raise money for cancer research.
