About Houston Rockets Tickets

The Houston Rockets were founded in 1967 -- though not in Houston. The Rockets entered the NBA in San Diego, as the San Diego Rockets. The Rockets spent four seasons in San Diego, before moving to Houston prior to the 1971-72 season. The Rockets didn't find much success in San Diego, never finishing above .500.

Houston made its first-ever trip to the NBA Finals in 1981, but the Rockets lost to the Boston Celtics in six games. Still, the 80's were the turning point in Rockets history, as the team went from a doormat to a legitimate contender. The Rockets drafted Hakeem Olajuwon in 1984, who, along with Ralph Sampson, led the Rockets to the NBA Finals in 1986. Once again, the Rockets lost to the Celtics in six games.

Houston's fortunes changed in 1994. Though the Chicago Bulls had won three straight NBA championships, Michael Jordan surprisingly retired to pursue a baseball career -- and the Rockets capitalized. Houston defeated the New York Knicks in seven games in the 1994 NBA Finals to claim the franchise's first-ever NBA title. The Rockets then repeated as NBA champions the following year, sweeping the Orlando Magic in the 1995 NBA Finals.

The Rockets haven't returned to the NBA Finals since -- but with one of the best front offices in the league, the Rockets boast one of the smartest and best rosters in the entire league! Don't miss your chance to watch James Harden and the rest of the Rockets take the court at the Toyota Center! Check out Houston's schedule, and buy your Rockets tickets at Ticket Liquidator today!
