About the Show:Hands on a Hardbody is a musical based on the 1997 documentary of the same name. The film chronicled an endurance contest held in Longview, Texas that pitted 24 people against one another to win a brand new truck simply by keeping at least one hand on it. The 1995 contest lasted a whopping seventy-seven hours, and the movie won Best Documentary at the 1997 LA Film Festival. The musical based on the film premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2012 before setting dates in February and March 2013 for a Broadway transfer. The book is by Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife), with music by Amanda Green (Bring It On: The Musical) and Trey Anastasio (of the band Phish). The original Broadway cast features Hunter Foster (Urinetown), Jay Armstrong Johnson (Catch Me If You Can), and Allison Case (Hair), among others.
