Groomed in the Montreal underground techno scene, Claire Boucher chose an abandoned warehouse over her classrooms at McGill University where she was finally expelled for missing classes. Boucher’s alter ego Grimes didn’t miss a beat releasing two independent albums before signing with 4AD and unveiling her masterpiece Visions.

Visions is one of those rare epochal albums that define a moment in time. Fitting for someone with a voice as angelic as Boucher’s, Grimes claims she channeled the album after nine days of solitude, recording it in her bedroom. The album’s mix of synths and programmed beats coupled with her otherworldly croon was one of the highlights of 2012 and fans were smitten on Grimes tour dates.
