Fleetwood Mac was founded by former blues band member Peter Green; soon after, drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie and temporary guitarist Jeremy Spencer formed the first incarnation of Fleetwood Mac in 1967. Their self-titled debut album was considered textbook blues despite staying power on British Charts in 1968. For the next few years American fans were in the dark about where to find Fleetwood Mac tickets - the group found most of it's praise in Europe and opened for Jetro Tull and Joe Cocker in the US . Already breaking out of their blues-rock mold, Fleetwood Mac composed hits "Albatross," "Man of the World" and "Oh Well" before revamping their sound in the early 70's. With the absence of Peter Green after his personal departure in 1970, the group lost it's base in blues. The band's sound would be sculpted into a much more melodic style with the With addition of Danny Kirwin and Christine Perfect that same year. Considered Fleetwood Mac's "Confused Period" the early 70's saw Spencer's departure from the band, Perfect's marriage to McVie and Danny Kirwin's exit. Manager Clifford Davis formed a bogus group performing under the name Fleetwood Mac in 1971. Needless to say, fans and members of Fleetwood Mac were outraged that Fleetwood Mac tickets didn't include original members of the band. Fleetwood Mac would find it's most profitable lineup in 1974 - Stevie Nicks, FWM's figurehead, and Lindsay Buckingham added key vocals, guitar and physical attraction, transforming Fleetwood Mac into a worldwide success. The 1977 release of "Rumours" would be Fleetwood Mac's most successful album to date reaching 19x platinum stats and the number one spot on US, UK, Australian and Canadian charts. Garnering comparisons to the Byrds and The Eagles, Rumors marked the metamorphosis from the tiresome blues/rock of the 60's to California pop of the 70's. Suddenly, arenas were selling out as Fleetwood Mac concerts swept the world and Fleetwood Mac tickets became a hot commodity. For the next few years, Fleetwood Mac would teeter between the danger of performing, as Nicks was susceptible to throat nodes and the burden of producing an equally experimental record. "Tusk," which hit number 8 in 1979 represented, according to Rolling stone, "both the last word in lavish California studio pop and a brave but tentative lurch forward by the one Seventies group that can claim a musical chemistry as mysteriously right—though not as potent — as the Beatles'." However, "Fleetwood Mac Live," released in 1980, further affirmed fans that Fleetwood Mac tickets guaranteed a unique and highly unconventional performance. The early 80's brought Fleetwood members fortune in solo projects and new material. Nicks produced 3 top 20 singles- "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" featuring Tom Petty, "Leather and Lace" and "Edge of Seventeen", Fleetwood produced "The Visitor" with music recorded in Ghana and Buckingham churned out a solo album titled "Law and Order". With Fleetwood Mac fans anxiously awaiting the announcement of a new Fleetwood Mac tour, they would have to wait until the 1982 release of "Mirage" to see Fleetwood Mac live. In the shadow of Nick's growing success as a solo artist (having released three hit albums before 1984), and the stresses of individual management, the band settled on a brief hiatus until 1985, when Buckingham officially left the band. He was replaced by guitarists Billy Burnette and Rick Vito who also toured with Fleetwood Mac that same year. "Tango in the Night," released in 1970, would conform to some of the new computerized trends of the 80's employing synthetic vocals and zithers - Fleetwood Mac ticket holders were in for a technological treat during the Fleetwood Mac tour of the late 80's. Around the time that Seattle grunge was born and disco was a distant memory,"Behind the Mask" became Fleetwood Mac's first studio album not to hit platinum charts since it's release. As a result, Vito bailed in 1991 and Fleetwood Mac, who now consisted of the McVies, Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks made the tragic decision to stop touring altogether. In another surprising move, Nicks announced her permanent departure from the group in 1993, a transition that would prove trying for the band. With the addition of Dave Mason and Bekka Bramlett, Fleetwood Mac disappointed fans with the uncharacteristic sound of 1995's "Time"- the band quickly dissipated after a two year Fleetwood Mac tour. Like many surprise reunion announcements, the Fleetwood Mac reunion of 1997 and the release of "The Dance" fell into the warm arms of loyal fans around the world- Fleetwood Mac tickets would once again be considered more valuable than gold. Fleetwood Mac's "Rumour's" lineup would grace stages around the world as the band celebrated it's 20th anniversary of the hit album. In 1998 FWM would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. Since its 1967 formation, Fleetwood Mac has sold over 100 million copies of their album, one quarter of those would be "Rumours." In an era of successful reunion tours such as Phish, The Eagles and The Police - Fleetwood Mac can be added to the roster of bands worth seeing this year. Currently in production on a new Fleetwood Mac album for 2012, Nicks, McVie, Fleetwood and Buckingham, are also creating a set list of fantastic hits for the latest Fleetwood Mac reuinon tour sure to send fans into fits of dance.
