Damon Albarn Concert Tickets

Launch your summer fun with Damon Albarn tickets! The English musician kicked off his U.S. tour June 6th at the Governor’s Ball in New York City to promote his debut solo album Everyday Robots. Best known as the former front man of the Britpop/alternative rock band Blur, as well as the co-founder of the popular virtual band Gorillaz, Albarn is a multi-instrumentalist with a lot to bring to the stage. Everyday Robots, a much more personal project for Albarn, received rave reviews from music critics upon its release in April 2014, featuring collaborations with fellow musician Brian Eno, and ranked at number two on the UK Albums Chart.

Hailing from London, Albarn began his music career at an early age. After enrolling in a part-time music course at London’s Goldsmiths College, Albarn formed a group called Seymour in 1988 with a fellow student. The band changed their name from Seymour to Blur in 1990 after the record label disliked the band’s original name. Best known for their singles, “She’s So High,” “Coffee and TV,” and “No Distance Left to Run,” Blur experienced great success, especially in Europe, and were nominated for a Grammy in 2011.

After Blur decided to part ways for good, Albarn joined forces with friend Jamie Hewlett, and the Gorillaz were born. With many successful singles, the all-digital band was mostly classified as alternative rock, but was influenced by Britpop, dub, hip-hop, and pop music. The group’s self-titled debut album sold over seven million copies, featuring the hit singles “19-2000” and “Clint Eastwood.” Gorillaz’s second album, Demon Days, was released in 2005 and included the singles “Feel Good Inc.,” “Dare,” “Dirty Harry,” and “Kids with Guns.” Demon Days went five times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the U.S. The group released its final two albums in 2010 – Plastic Beach and The Fall – before splitting indefinitely.

One of Albarn’s many side projects was forming the super-group The Good, the Bad & the Queen in 2006, which included the former bassist of The Clash, Paul Simonon, former guitarist of The Verve, Simon Tong, and former drummer of The Africa ’70, Tony Allen. He also frequently works on film scores, theatre productions, and most recently created an opera titled Doctor Dee.

Now on tour to promote his first solo album, don’t miss your chance to see the multi-talented and ever-interesting Damon Albarn. Self-described as a mixture of folk and soul music, the album’s singles “Everyday Robots,” “Hollow Pounds,” and “Lonely Press Play” prove complex and layered with meaning. Albarn will play this new material along with Blur classics and Gorillaz favorites, so make sure to buy tickets soon to his limited east coast shows.
