Chinglish Information

About the Show:

From acclaimed playwright David Henry Hwang, Chinglish is a hilarious tale of conflicting cultures. It received its world premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre on June 18, 2011, where it played to sold-out houses until it closed on July 31. The Chicago Tribune lauded it as "hilarious" and a "shrewd, timely and razor-sharp comedy," giving it a perfect four-star review. One should expect no less from Hwang, whose previous projects include the Tony Award-winning 1988 play M. Butterfly as well as the 2002 revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Flower Drum Song and Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida. He has also frequently collaborated with the world-famous modern composer Philip Glass, writing the librettos for three of his operas.
