Formerly Known As: Decatur Staleys

Fun Fact: Soldier Field hosted the first boxing event, and the all-time largest football crowd (123,000)

Recent History: Lovie Smith was hired by the franchise on January 15, 2004. He is the third head coach following the firing of Mike Ditka at the end of the 1992 season. Smith proved a very successful rookie head coach, bringing a similar defensive strategy from Tampa with him to Chicago, known as the "Tampa 2 Defensive System". Before his second season began at Chicago, the Bears took their former offensive coordinator, Ron Turner. That season, the Bears won their division and made the playoffs for the first time in four years, and Bears playoffs tickets sold like wildfire. Their last playoff spot came via winning the NFC Central in 2001. The following season, the Bears won their second consecutive NFC North title and ultimately went to Super Bowl XLI. Unfortunately, they lost 29-17 to the Indianapolis Colts. The club gave an extended contract to coach Lovie Smith, and he remains the current head coach at Chicago.

Though the Bears have won only a single Super Bowl, the team boasts the NFL's second highest number of Championship titles, falling just short of the Green Bay Packers. This statistic points to an illustrious early history. Indeed, the Bears teams of the 1930s and 1940s set the standard for decades, winning six league titles in the process. The team's lone Super Bowl victory came much later, in 1986, at the expense of the New England Patriots.

Despite limited team success, the Bears of the 1980s produced an outstanding array of individual talents. Hall-of-Famer Walter Payton remains the NFL's all-time leading rusher, amassing 16,726 yards carrying the ball. Other stars of yesteryear include linebackers Dick Butkus and Mike Singletary, and lineman/fullback William "The Refrigerator" Perry.

"Da Bears" are poised to finally make an impact on the NFL again. The signing of exciting players like wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad and running back Cedric Benson heralds a new era of football in Chicago. It's enough to get the fans off their couches and into Soldier Field. TicketLiquidator is there to help with team info and outstanding seats at low prices. Chicago Bears News

The 2006 Chicago Bears season was happy times for the Bears. They attained a 13-3 regular season record, unmatched in the NFC, bettering their previous year's record of 11-5. The Bears successfully defended their NFC North divisional title, and beat the New Orleans Saints in the National Football Conference Championship. The Bears went to the Super Bowl in Miami, where they lost 29-17 to Indianapolis Colts, but the season as a whole was a very successful one.

The Chicago Bears' 2006 NFL Draft picks were not necessarily to the tastes of many Bears fans or many in the media. A number of injuries had sidetracked important offensive players, and the team wrapped up the 2005 NFL season ranked 31st in passing yardage per game. People automatically believed that a tight end or wide receiver would be acquired during the free agency period or the drafts to improve the offense, but Jerry Angelo and Lovie Smith traded away their first picks and drafted five defensive players instead. Devin Hester came in to plug the hole left by cornerback Jerry Azumah and punt returner Bobby Wade, and a host of other rearrangements occurred, presumably designed to reconfigure and add a more effective shape to the Bears' roster. Most did not agree, and the staff copped a lot of criticism from those who believed that a strengthened offense was the only way to go. The city of Chicago braced themselves for the hunt for Bears playoff tickets and regular season seats, and the season was underway.

The Bears march to glory began at Green Bay Packers, where they were victors by a clear 26 points to zero, marking the first in an opening run of seven wins. Bears Packers tickets are a pass to one of the fiercest match-ups in the midwest, and it seemed that the Chicago Bears schedule was favoring them. Their first defeat came at Soldier Field to the Miami Dolphins, in a 31-13 drubbing. They won two more on the trot, before going down again 17-13 to the New England Patriots at Foxboro. There followed a four game unbeaten run, taking them all the way to the final game of the regular season, where they faced the Green Bay Packers at home, and were roundly beaten 26 to 7. Bears playoff tickets were now the target and Bears fans sought them out. The Bears played in the NFC Divisional Playoff against Seattle Seahawks, and narrowly defeated them 27-24 in a grueling and hard fought contest. They played New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship Game, beating them 39-14, and they went to Miami for the Superbowl. The search for Chicago Bears tickets had been worthwhile for fans, and they now had bigger fish to fry. The Superbowl was played in a torrential downpour, which many say contributed to the easy flow and dynamism of the game, in which an immediate return and touchdown was scored direct from the opening kick-off, the first in Superbowl history. Chicago Bears football tickets were now among the most prized in the NFL, especially Chicago Bears playoffs tickets. Unfortunately the team didn't prevail that year.

Chicago stood still for a day on February 4, 2007, and though they were beaten, the achievement of reaching the Superbowl charged the fans up and the hunt for Chicago Bears tickets for the 2007 NFL season is now on. The seats at Soldier Field will be packed with roaring Bears fans come the new season, and maybe they'll make the big game once again. You never know…
