About Cee Lo Green

Cee-Lo Green was born in Atlanta, Georgia to two ordained ministers and started his music career singing in church. Cee-Lo, along with Big Gipp, T-Mo, and Khujo, first gained notoriety as a member of the hip hop group Goodie Mob whose critically acclaimed first album Soul Food explored racism, discrimination, geo-politics, and gentrification. With the song Dirty South on this album, Goodie Mob coined the phrase which became synonymous with the Atlanta-based hip hop scene at the time.

After the release of their second album Still Standing, Goodie Mob was opening for Outkast when a young talent show contest winner named Brian Burton, a.k.a. Danger Mouse, gave Cee-Lo a demo tape and told him to call if he was interested. Years later the duo formed Gnarls Barkley and created a sound Green referred to as “electric industrial Euro soul.” With hits like Crazy and Run, Cee-Lo Green tickets became a hot commodity.

While taking a break after two albums with Gnarls Barkley, Cee-Lo released the solo smash hit single Forget You! which registered over 2 million plays in less than a week, debuted at #1 on the UK charts and earned Cee-Lo five Grammy nominations. After collaborations with Ludacris, T.I., and Pharrell and production from Timbaland, The Neptunes, and Jazze Pha, Green is still churning out hits.
