About Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars: The Beginning

With a head start in the music industry, the singer-songwriter and music producer moved to Los Angeles when he finished high school. Bruno Mars scored a solo deal with Motown Records, however, the deal was not great for the young musician and the label had trouble marketing their newest star. Instead, Bruno Mars switched gears to concentrate on producing. That's right, Bruno started his professional career in music as a producer. He produced songs for other artists as part of the Smeezingtons production team, alongside Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine. As part of the group he also found a way to showcase his melodic voice. The Smeezingtons have worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including working on B.o.B.'s Nothin' On You and Right Round by Flo Rida. Bruno Mars and the Smeezingtons have also worked with Justin Bieber, Kid Cudi, Cee Lo Green, Matisyahu and many more. After leaving Motown Records he moved on to Atlantic Records, and that's where his story really picks up steam. Bruno first started getting the attention of the mainstream for his melodic backup vocals on Nothin on You as well as Travie McCoy's Billionaire.

If you are looking for Bruno Mars tickets then you likely already know that on October of 2010 he released his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans and Bruno's place among the stars of music was cemented. The album exploded onto the music scene, reaching as high as #3 on the Billboard charts. Featuring the radio hits Just the Way You Are and Grenade, the album was one of the biggest hits of 2010. Doo-Wops & Hooligans was nominated for seven Grammy's and Bruno Mars took home the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance award. Doo-Wops & Hooligans "is an effortless, fantastically polyglot record that shows him to be a careful study across a range of pop songcraft," The New York Times said of the album.

Bruno Mars: On the Come Up

Bruno Mars is primarily of Puerto Rican and Filipino descent, a aspect that has had a deep impact on his musical career. His first EP was “It’s Better if You Don’t Understand,” the tittle of which reflects his mixed heritage. Growing up in Hawaii, Bruno Mars would entertain audiences, impersonating Elvis and more. “I wish I could tell you me and my rock band were traveling around, strung out. No, we were a family band. Straight Partridge Family.”

Drawing form a huge pool of influences, the music of Bruno Mars makes him one of the most unique artists out there today. He counts Elvis and Michael Jackson as two of the biggest influences on his musical development.
