Born and raised on the Seattle coffeehouse circuit, folk-rock musician Brandi Carlile honed her pipes as back-up for an Elvis impersonator during her teenage years. Dropping out of school to make mixtapes and pursue a solo career, Carlile got her break when Dave Matthews heard her at the 2003 Sasquatch Music Festival. Columbia Records signed her and Brandi Carlile’s eponymous debut consisted of a mix of songs from her bedroom recordings and some new material. The album landed her bookings with Ray LaMontagne, Hanson, Indigo Girls, Chris Isaak, Tori Amos and Maroon 5 among others. Brandi Carlile tickets for shows on these tours were a rare treat for unsuspecting audience members who were won over by her vocals and Brandi Carlile lyrics. Carlile’s second album The Story was produced by T-Bone Burnett, features the Indigo Girls and was recorded in an epic 11-day-long recording session with her live band to capture the spirit of her live performances. Star-maker Grey’s Anatomy featured three Brandi Carlile songs on the show and Adele covered the album's hidden track on her chart-topping 21. Her third album Give Up the Ghost was produced by heavy-hitter Rick Rubin and features the Rocket Man himself Elton John. Carlile’s latest album is a live "rock and roll symphony" with arrangements by golden boy Paul Buckmaster who arranged Train’s megahit Drops of Jupiter.
