Boston Celtics Schedule

Despite being the oldest team in the NBA, injury prone, and surrounded by trade speculation for most of the season, the Boston Celtics are right where they want to be in the middle of playoff contention in the Eastern Conference. Their 2011-2012 season started off rather inauspiciously as Jeff Green, a young and prolific scorer, was sidelined for the entire season due to a heart condition. This was a huge blow to a club that already relies very heavily on its perennial all-stars Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce. However, the injury bug did not stop there; virtually every member of the Celtics’ roster has been sidelined this season due to injuries, with Chris Wilcox and Jermaine O’ Neal joining Jeff Green on the injured reserve list for the rest of the year. Yet, the play of Celtics’ floor general Rajon Rondo has galvanized the team into a contender once again. Rondo, a top-tier point guard in the NBA, is having the best all-around season of his career, averaging a double-double with 12.1 points and 11.2 assists per game. Rondo also had the best game of his NBA career this year when he posted an astounding 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 20 assists against the New York Knicks. He became only the third player in 25 years, joining Magic Johnson and Jason Kidd, to record at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a game.

During last year’s NBA playoffs, the Celtics were in top form in the opening round, sweeping a Carmelo Anthony led Knicks team and reigniting the Boston/New York basketball rivalry. In the second round, however, they encountered the Miami Heat led by Dwyane Wade and LeBron James. James, who during his stint in Cleveland had received several playoff exits courtesy of the Celtics, was determined to get his revenge. LeBron wound up with the last laugh as the Heat ousted the former NBA Champions with relative ease in five games. The Celtics’ age really began to show as they were unable to contend with the younger, more athletic Miami players. Yet, the Celtics are a resilient force and plan on making one more run at an NBA title this season before the Big Three’s championship window officially closes.

Other Boston sports options

The Boston Celtics are always a big item when it comes to sports in Boston, but they have some competition from other sports vying for the adoration, and dollars, of Boston sports fans. When it comes to volume of sales, Boston Red Sox baseball game tickets are the biggest by far, but that might have something to do with the fact that they play 81 games at Fenway! In recent years Patriots tickets have gotten really huge, as Tom Brady and Co. have been able to stay atop the NFL. Hockey has also gotten really big in recent years, so Boston Bruins tickets are big sellers as well. Sports in Boston are bigger than big, they are huge, and sports fans have some great Boston sports teams to choose from.

The Boston Celtics play home games at the TD Garden [tickets], or just "Da Gaaaden." The original Boston Garden was known for its less than spectacular upkeep, but the TD Garden has replaced the old stadium with a state of the art monument to sports. The stadium can hold 18,624 screaming Celtics ticket holders, be sure to be one of them with a pair of Celtics seats! You have to make it to a game at least once this year, but if you can score Celtics tickets more than once, that much the better. Don't delay, get your Celtics tickets now. Go Celts!
