About the Theatre:

The Booth Theatre, designed by Henry B. Herts, was constructed along with the adjoining Shubert Theatre (connected by the famous Shubert Alley), in 1913. It is named after famous 19th-century actor Edwin Booth, brother of John Wilkes Booth. The Booth seats only about 766 patrons (depending on the show), making it one of Broadway's smallest houses and providing an intimate setting for plays and musicals. Over the last century, a great many shows have played this theatre, from classics like You Can't Take It With You, Dial M for Murder, and Blithe Spirit to more modern successes like Sunday in the Park with George (by the legendary Stephen Sondheim), Once on This Island, and The Pillowman. In 2009, the Tony- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal made its Broadway debut at the Booth, and in 2011, the theatre welcomed Jon Robin Baitz' play Other Desert Cities, starring Stockard Channing and Stacey Keach.
