Bonnie and Clyde Information

About the Show:

Bonnie and Clyde is a new musical with music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, Wonderland), lyrics by Don Black (Dracula, Sunset Boulevard), and book by Ivan Menchell (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Cemetery Club). Centering on the lives of infamous gangsters Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, it is a story of dangerous love, fame, and tragedy. The score incorporates aspects of blues, rockabilly, and gospel in a non-traditional musical theatre mix.

Bonnie and Clyde had its world premiere on November 10, 2009 at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California, where it was well-received. After another production in Sarasota, Florida in November-December 2010, it was set for a Broadway transfer featuring two of Broadway's fastest-rising stars: Laura Osnes (Grease, Anything Goes) originated the role of Bonnie and Jeremy Jordan (West Side Story, Rock of Ages) originated the role of Clyde at the show's opening at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Plot Synopsis:

In a 1930s West Texas town, 23-year-old diner waitress Bonnie Parker dreams of breaking out of her mundane life. When she meets Clyde Barrow, who has just broken out of prison with his brother, Buck, she sees a spark and falls in love with him. On the run, they are captured by the Sheriff and his deputy, Ted, who is quite taken with Bonnie. Clyde is once again sent to prison, where Buck's wife, Blanche, had predicted they would end up yet again. Bonnie boldly smuggles a gun in for Clyde and he breaks out again, killing a deputy and beginning a life of on-the-run crime with Buck and Blanche. While they travel from place to place robbing banks, Bonnie writes poems about their life. When they begin murdering people who get in their way, they become press sensations. But with this level of fame comes the threat of capture. Order your Bonnie and Clyde tickets today to see this tale of murderous mayhem and fatal attraction.
