Sending the media into a stir of disbelief, Blink182 released this official statement to outlets across the world- "To put it simply, we're back. We mean, really back. Picking up where we left off and then some, in the studio writing and recording a new album. Preparing to tour the world yet again. Friendships reformed. 17 years deep in our legacy." p>

And what a legacy that is- After being expelled from Poway High School in 1992 (whats his age again?!), Tom DeLounge met Anne Hoppus at Rancho Bernardo High School. She introduced him to her brother Mark Hoppus- the two jammed in DeLounge's garage for two hours before deciding that they were a match made in heaven. Operating under the name "Duck Tape," DeLounge, along with Hoppus and drummer Scott Raynor, set out of make their first album.

Deciding that "Blink" would be a better name, the band recorded their first two demos "Flyswatter" and "Demo #2" on a 4-track in 1993. After some brief exposure with various record companies, Blink signed with Cargo Music in 1994 and recorded "Cheshire Cat" in only three days . Avoiding a legal dispute with the Irish pop bank "Blink", the band changed it's name to Blink 182, forever sealing their name in pop punk history. Blink 182 would hit the mainstream hard with their 1996 release of "Dude Ranch" under MCA records and Blink 182 tickets would be one of the most deisre pop punk tickets. One of Blink 182's most known singles "Dammit," would bring kids to Blink 182 concerts around the country.

It was during the Blink 182 tour in 1998 that Scott Raynor left the band and was replaced by former Aquabat, Travis Barker. 1999's "Enema of the State" assured fans that Blink 182 was here to stay- with songs like "What's My Age Again?", "All the Small Things" and "Adam's Song" kids of the skateboard generation flocked to concerts with their Blink 182 tickets. In 2000, a live album, "The Mark, Tom and Travis Show" would give fans a taste of what seeing Blink 182 live was like. With a combination of comedy, ad-libbing and all of Blink 182's greatest hits, a Blink 182 concert can't be missed.

After the release of "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" in 2001, Blink 182 toured with Green Day during the Pop Disaster tour where singles "First Date," "The Rock Show" and "Stay Together For the Kids," off of their new album, debuted. Rolling Stone had this to say about "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket- "Too funny for even the most uptight ideologue to dismiss as simps, these guys feel free to sing about their girl troubles without hiding behind either hipster irony or macho hostility. "

Blink's last installment before their hiatus, the self-titled "Blink 182," was released in 2003 with hits "I Miss You," "Down," "Always," and "Feeling This." Instead of Blink 182's normal formula following teenage angst, awkward pubescent moments and flat out punk rock, Blink 182 shifted gears toward a more serious and melodic sound. For the next year, Blink 182 tickets sold with on their "DollaBill" tour, where cheap Blink 182 tickets were selling out left and right. They later tagged along with No Doubt in the summer of 2004.

Some say it was the formation of Travis Barker and Tom DeLounge's Box Car Racer that caused Blink 182's break, others say it was Tom's desire for past-due rest. In 2005, Blink 182's band manager called Mark and Travis to tell then that Tom quit the band and, at least temporarily, Blink 182 tickets would be no more. The next few years would be active for all three members- Tom's new band, Angels & Airwaves, would release their debut album, reaching top ten on music charts, and Mark and Travis' band +44 would have equal success with their debut album "When Your Heart Stops Beating."

It was through the continued success of Angels & Airwaves and +44 that Blink 182 fans concluded that their favorite band would only exist in memory. Whether it was the plane crash that almost claimed Travis Barker's life in 2008, or the fact that our three boys have put the past behind them, we're glad they're back.
