About Black Sabbath
Led Zepplin. Deep Purple. Black Sabbath. Together these three bands laid the groundwork for the sound that would eventually come to be known as heavy metal. Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward changed the face of rock forever with their groundbreaking self-titled debut, and the horror film-influenced first single Evil Woman, which were released to the world on Friday the 13th ,1970. In an interview guitarist Tony Iommi explained that the band had one day to record the album which they essentially played live with Ozzy singing lead in a separate room. Only an immensely talented group of individuals could attempt to record under those conditions and very few, if any, have ever done so and come away with a game-changing album. On their second album they literally wrote the single Paranoid in the studio and hashed out the heavy metal classic that would go on to influence countless angry teenagers in under 30 minutes. That album also yielded the stone-cold classic Iron Man. During this period Black Sabbath tour dates piled up and Black Sabbath tickets sold out in the blink of an eye. While recording their third album, Master of Reality, the band were given the keys to the studio and a briefcase full of party supplies to dream up their next opus. Alcohol and drug abuse drove Ozzy out of the band, until now. Rumors of a new Black Sabbath album have surfaced but it's unclear whether Ozzy and the gang will ever reunite for another round of Black Sabbath concerts.
