The Black Crowes began their journey in 1984 under the name "Mr. Crowes Garden" in Atlanta, GA with founding members Chris and Rich Robinson. The band cited their initial inspirations as The Rolling Stones, The Faces, Buddy Guy, Otis Redding, and Humble Pie. After changing their name and signing to American Recordings (Def American) the band released their debut studio album "Shake Your Money Maker" in 1990. The album hit multi-platinum status and Black Crowes tickets went on sale for a tour with headliners ZZ Top. The band would eventually embark on a highly successful Black Crowes tour.

Shortly afterward, the band released their second studio album"The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion" in 1992. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard top 200 chart. The band released four more records, "Amorica, "Three Snakes and One Charm," "By Your Side," and "Lions" before their hiatus in 2002.
