Florida Gators will face the Oklahoma Sooners

Boy, you can feel the excitement already, college football fans across the country can't the 2009 BCS Championship Game to see what team is officially the best in the country. With two of the highest-powered offenses college football has ever seen, the 2009 BCS Championship game will be one for the ages. It's tough to say what team has the upper hand in the BCS Championship, because both these teams have been nothing short of stellar all year. With offenses that can explode anytime, you won't wasn't to miss a second of BCS Championship game action.

We all know that the Florida Gators are one of the most prodigious offenses ever to play college football, and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow and his crew will be looking to break all sorts of scoring records in the game. The Gators have scored more than 49 points since loosing to Mississippi on September 20. They also looked convincing in the 31-20 SEC Championship victory. Tim Tebow could very-well become only the second player ever to win back-to-back Heisman Trophies.

But as much as the Gators scored, the Oklahoma Sooners scored a little more. Their 702 points this season set the all-time NCAA record, and their streak of 60-plus points in five straight games was the first time that had been done since 1919. Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford has been great leading his team all season long, and with a Tebow-Bradford clash, the scoreboard will be working overtime to keep up with all the touchdowns. If you like offense the 2009 BCS Game is going to be your kind of game.

Both Florida and Oklahoma will be looking for their second National Championship of the millennium, and in another interesting twist these teams have never faced each other before. They will have to get to know each other via film before stepping onto the gridiron for what promises to be one of the biggest college football games ever. There will be some knowledge on the part of Oklahoma, as Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops left the Gators' program in 1998 to join the then-stumbling Sooners. He was able to turn the team around quickly and led the Sooners to their 2000 National Championship win. The Sooners won six conference championships over under Stoops and the 2009 BCS Championship is the fourth time his Sooners have been in a National Championship.

2008 BCS Championship Game tickets

Last year, Ohio State Buckeyes tickets and LSU Tigers tickets were snapped up like prime steak in a feeding frenzy for the Bowl Championship Series game that took place in New Orleans on January 7. The Buckeyes went into the BCS hat ranked at Number 5 having played all its regular games, and was one of only two college football teams in the major conferences with only one loss. Ohio's loss came against "unlucky" 13 rated Illinois. LSU, rated Number 7 in the BCS right down to the wire, then shared the Number 1 and 2 spots with the Buckeyes, as the rest stood and watched, shell-shocked at this final twist in a college football season crammed with surprises.

Just days before this unexpected punchline, the Georgia Bulldogs were Number 4 in the BCS ranking, and it looked like Georgia Bulldogs tickets were gonna be the ones people would clamor for. But to their horror the Bulldogs were forced to see themselves dropped to Number 5 in the final standings after the army of BCS pollsters concluded that, because the Bulldogs did not win a conference championship, their number was up.

This not-too-peachy Georgia demise opened up all kinds of weird possibilities, and anyone who follows the college bowls like I do knows that weirdness is often the only constant. The BCS rankings formula is as esoteric and counter-intuitive as anything incanted by medieval alchemists, in my opinion, and this devilment cannot be allowed to continue; someone has to settle the rules and stipulate whether teams that fail to win their conference can be voted to the BCS Championship Game. BCS Championship Game tickets are a nerve-wracking stack of paper as it is, without this added uncertainty. As it is, Georgia battled Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl, so if you're a Georgian or Hawaiian, you should have been looking forSugar Bowl tickets for that one.

And Georgia weren't the only ones left feeling bitter-sweet this year. Missouri missed out on the Orange Bowl and had to play Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl. It was Missouri Tigers Cotton Bowl tickets, (Missouri was ranked Number 1 right to the end) instead of BCS Championship Game tickets.

Arizona State was another side that joined ol' Georgia in their pain, as they were both denied one of the three available at-large berths to the five BCS games. They had to settle for Texas in the Holiday Bowl on December 27 in San Diego.

I would just say to anyone who loves college bowl games, grab those BCS Game tickets and head to the Miami Gardens for this one, because it is looking like the unexpected is set to go all the way to the death, and who knows what will happen?
