BB King, or Riley B. King to give him his real name, is the Blues. The Mississippi guitarist washed up ashore in Memphis when the blues were young, but King embodied the spirit of the region in the way he literally invented the feel and effect of his blues voice. He recorded some of his earliest material in Memphis while he worked as a DJ, going under the name "Beale Street Blues Boy".
