Barbara Cook is a legendary performer who gained fame for her roles in Broadway shows beginning in the 1950s. Since then, she has built a career as a concert and recording artist, and fans flock to see her continue her legacy as one of the most beautiful voices of our time.

Since Cook burst onto the scene as Broadway's favorite ingenue in the 1950s, she has been praised for her outstanding lyric soprano voice; her performances were noted for their vocal agility, large range, warmth, and emotional depth. Her Broadway debut was in the short-lived show Flahooley in 1951. Later that year, she played Ado Annie in a popular revival of Rodgers' and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! at New York City Center, where she returned to portray Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel in 1954. In '55, she drew praise for her role in Plain and Fancy and she originated the extremely challenging role of Cunegonde in Leonard Bernstein's Candide in 1956; she became famous for the show-stopper "Glitter and Be Gay." In the 1957 premiere of Meredith Wilson's The Music Man, Cook won a Tony for originating the role of Marian Paroo, one of her most famous roles. She also pioneered the role of Amalia in 1962's She Loves Me, from which the song "Ice Cream" became one of her standards. Other roles in the 1960s include Anna in The King and I, Magnolia in Show Boat, and leads in national tours of The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Gypsy.

For many years later, Cook enjoyed success in concert performances at such venues as New York's Lincoln Center Carnegie Hall and with such ensembles as the New York Philharmonic. She also enjoyed success in England, performing in such venues as London's Donmar Warehouse, Sadler's Wells Theatre, and Royal Albert Hall, and in Australia, performing at the Sydney Opera House. In 2010, she returned to Broadway, earning another Tony nomination for her role in the revue Sondheim on Sondheim, and in 2011, she was awarded the Kennedy Center Honors, where stars such as Matthew Broderick, Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster, Patti LuPone, Kelli O'Hara, Glenn Close, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Laura Osnes paid tribute to her great contributions to the arts.
