Avenged Sevenfold Tickets

Back recently from South America, Avenged Sevenfold are riding a black metal wave of adulation for their latest album Nightmare as they forge ahead on their Nightmare After Christmas tour. The third single off the album, So Far Away, pays homage to deceased drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev” Sullivan who passed away in 2009. The band is carrying on admirably, recently headlining Revolver magazine’s 3rd annual Golden Gods festival and shooting the video for So Far Away.

Southern-Cali metalcore gods Avenged Sevenfold have been proclaimed leaders of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal and one of the top ten bands of the decade by Ultimate Guitar, but lead man M. Shadows, guitarists Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance, and bassist Johnny Christ are doing the same thing they’ve been doing since 1999, making killer music and selling busloads of Avenged Sevenfold tickets.

From their major label release City of Evil in 2005 to Nightmare in 2011, the band’s sound has evolved from straight-forward metal to a complex mix of dark churning ballads and orchestral maneuvers that find the band exploring deeper, richer textures. The death of original drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan in 2009 from heart disease and drug abuse has surely influenced the band’s later output.

Replacement drummer Mike Portnoy played with the band on Nightmare and went on the road with the Avenged Sevenfold tour machine but was dismissed in 2010 and replaced by Arin Ilejay who will be tackling the band’s 11-minute-long epic Save Me in 2011.
