American bluegrass-country singer and fiddle player Alison Krauss was a dynamo from the very beginning. She featured on a recording of her brother's album at fourteen years of age. She released her first solo album while just sixteen years old in 1987, and released her first album with her band in 1989. Krauss is a powerhouse in her genre, demonstrated by the number of awards she has won, a record twenty Grammy Awards during her solo career, with her band Union Station, and also as a producer. No other female artist has managed anything like this. Krauss has won seven Country Music Association Awards, two Gospel Music Association Awards, and fifteen International Bluegrass Music Association Awards.
