A View From the Bridge Information |
A View From The Bridge is another great tragedy from Arthur Miller (Death of a Salesman). Set in an Italian American neighborhood near the Brooklyn Bridge in 1950s New York, A View From The Bridge tells the story of Eddie Carbone, an Italian American longshoreman, living with his wife Beatrice and orphaned niece Catherine. Over the course of the play, Eddie's feelings for Catherine evolve from paternal into something more. With the arrival of Marco and Rodolpho, Beatrice's cousins from Italy, Eddie tries to keep Catherine to himself. Catherine falls in love with Rodolpho, however, and Eddie's jealousy fuels a tragic end to the play.
