Get your East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) tickets today and watch some up-and-coming hockey stars live before they join the NHL. The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) is based in Princeton, New Jersey, with teams all over the United States. It is often regarded as being a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The league was founded in 1988 and now has 23 member teams. Most recently, the Florida Everblades took home the championship title. The Hampton Roads Admirals and South Carolina Stingrays have also been dominant teams in the league’s history, both taking home 3 titles each, the most for any team in the ECHL. There's lots of action happening so get your ECHL tickets right away! Like the AHL, some ECHL teams have affiliations with 25 of the 30 NHL teams. Through these affiliations, 490 players have advanced from the ECHL to play in the NHL.
The ECHL was formed in 1988 when the now defunct Atlantic Coast Hockey League and the All-American Hockey League joined with 5 teams. The original teams were the Carolina Thunderbirds (now the Wheeling Nailers), the Johnstown Chiefs (now the Greenville Road Warriors), the Erie Panthers (folded after 2011), The Virginia Lancers (now the Utah Grizzlies) and the Knoxville Cherokees (folded in 2009). After the West Coast Hockley League ceased operations in 2002, the EHCL welcomed many of the teams to join the EHCL as expansion teams for the 2003-2004 season. Due to the geographical anomalies, the league has had what many consider to be unbalanced conferences and divisions. The ECHL offers great affordable fun with cheap tickets for families, friends and loved ones looking to get in on hockey action without the high cost.
